About the Artist

Born in Sydney, Australia, Sonny King spent part of his childhood in boarding school and the other part in the colorful world of one of Australia's most famous traveling circuses, which was owned by his father.

After studying fine art at East Sydney's Technical College, King left for the U.K. to pursue a career in graphic design. He lived in London and Geneva and then moved to America, where he became an award-winning graphic designer and art director.

An avid sailor, King crossed the North Sea from the East coast of England to Scandinavia in an antique twenty-five foot sailboat.
This experience is reflected in the seascapes and landscapes that were featured in his first solo exhibition on Orcas Island, WA, in June 2000. Recently, King has explored the rich terrain of traditional nursery rhymes, a subject that aptly suits his wry and playful sensibilities.

In 2007, his work was presented at the Folk Art museum in Los Angeles. This exhibit featured twelve Dioramas depicting his time, as a ten year old traveling with his Father's Circus.

The artist is represented in private collections in the U.K. and the United States.
